Maker USA Brochure

July 20, 2010

Maker USA crafts custom wood veneered skateboards, surfboards, and snowboards. A merging between craftsman and artist, each board is a piece of useful art. After working with Ric Alison (the man behind the boards) to create an identity for Maker USA, the next step to bring his products into the marketplace was the creation of this product brochure. The brand and identity continued to develop as we laid out his products and wove Ric’s story throughout the brochure.

Sherman Mills Signage

July 15, 2010

Sherman Mills is a community of studios, businesses, shops, and even residences.  Found on an old mill site, the grounds consist of 32 different unique buildings.  Navigating the space to find where you’re going can be a bit tricky.  The Mills asked us to design a simple signage solution to start addressing this issue.  We designed ‘map panels’ found throughout the complex as well as some entry signage to point people to the space.  The panels are composed of a map layout of the complex and each building broken down into spaces, visitors can now look up the business they wish to visit, see which building it’s in, and which floor it’s on.  The panels also include a write up on the history of Sherman Mills and the historic site it is.

Maker USA Identity Package

July 15, 2010

Building a brand from the bottom up can seem like a daunting task, so when Ric Allison found himself in need of an identity he came to us. Ric asked for help in re-launching his products under a new brand and identity for his custom designs. Starting with trend boards and market research into the areas Ric wanted to promote his products, our first step was creating a logo.

Ric creates beautiful wood veneer skateboards (as well as surf and snow boards!). Working with artists who provide the artwork to be displayed on the boards, each piece is handcrafted and is really a functional art piece. Wanting to give the brand a rustic and handmade feel, and also being inspired to incorporate Ric’s initials (R A), the logo and identity package started to come together.
